💔 Childhood Love Story – Part 3: The Empty Roof & The Hopeful Heart

When Anamika left for her village, Ankur did not cry in front of anyone. He went about his days like usual, but inside, he felt empty. Her smile, her laughter, the way she used to look at him — all of it was missing, and it made the world feel different.
Days went by, but for Ankur, time seemed to stand still. Everything around him looked the same, but it didn’t feel the same. The streets, the playground, even the sound of friends talking — everything reminded him of her absence.
🏡 The Empty Roof
Every time Ankur passed the DBGB Bank, he looked up at Anamika’s roof without thinking. That roof where she used to stand, smile, and wave at him — it was empty now. But Ankur still imagined her there: the sunlight on her hair, her little waves, and her happy smile.
He sometimes stayed longer than needed just to look at the empty roof. Even without her there, it felt like a special place where memories of her still lived.
👁️🗨️ Memories That Still Live
Ankur often thought about the moments they shared.
He remembered her voice, her small jokes, and the way she used to tease him.
Sometimes he smiled, imagining her waving from the roof.
His heart kept hoping:
“Maybe she will come next month…”
“She will surely visit during holidays…”
“Maybe she will come tomorrow…”
Memories became his way to feel close to her. Even while playing or talking to friends, his mind often went back to that empty roof.
💔 Not a Forever Goodbye
Ankur knew this was not a forever goodbye.
He felt her presence in the wind, in the evenings, in small things around him.
He whispered to himself:
“This is not a goodbye… we are just a little apart.”
He believed that one day they would meet again, and that thought gave him hope.
🌸 The Hope That Stays
Even when the roof is empty, Ankur’s hope stays strong.
Love does not always need someone to be present.
Sometimes remembering them and wishing to see them again is also a way of loving.
Ankur promised himself:
“I will wait, I will remember, and I will keep loving, no matter the distance.”
